I probably shouldn't say anything about this yet, but I'm bust'n.
Catina and I are organizing a triathlon!
It's been a couple of years since I've done this type of thing, but like riding your bike...it comes back to you. We've chosen an indoor tri, because this is something that no one does around here. And, February has no events! We are hoping that this will also help kick off training for most triathletes, or motivation for non-triathletes.
This is going to be a fund raiser for someone out there. We can't decide on a charity.
More to come on this once it gets "officially" approved!!

Back in the saddle
Friday, October 30, 2009
There hasn't been a lot going on lately, that's why the lack of writing. Tri season is over, the Cardinals are out of the playoffs, MU football stinks, the Chiefs stink even worse, so there isn't a lot of positive things to write about. The only thing that has been going on has been a lot of eating. It seems that my appetite hasn't diminished since I was training like a triathlete. Needless to say, I have gained a few pounds since Lake St Louis in August.
Which brings me to my newest theory on food. To go along with my "Dessert should be eaten first," (and the beer before liquor thing) I think that when it comes to mixing your flavors of pizza, you should never eat the meated pizza before the veggied pizza. It must be the extra fat that is in the meat that makes our mouths say "Yes, give me that one, forget everything else!" Veggie pizza is mostly blah anyway, but once your mouth gets a hint of that pepperoni grease...forget it!
go tigers!

Reality is reality enough!
Unbelievably, there were over 7 million viewers during season 5, with only a little over 1 million viewers watching this season. Which brings me to ask, why is there still 1 million viewers watching this crap. The reality of Reality Shows is that we the viewers need to get a life. When Reality TV first came about, it was fresh and new. But now, you can find "reality shows" on every station; everything from watching Truckers drive their rigs on ice to The Life of "Wolfboy."
And if that wasn't bad enough, we have those crapola magazines like the Star, Enquirer (is that even around anymore?), Us, People, etc...keeping a lot of these "stars" careers limping along. If it weren't for these magazines, we wouldn't even know that Brittney Spears, Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton were even alive. But no, each edition they have to keep us posted on their drinking habits, love lives, or how often they exit a limo without panties.
With everything that is going on in the world, the real reality, is reality enough. The economy stinks. Israel and Iran are about to duke it out. Obama and all the Democrats are about to Socialize the US, not to mention bankrupt her in the process. The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan won't end. Talk Like a Pirate Day has passed. And, worst of all...SUMMER IS OVER!
So yea, I guess I'm not too worried about Jon and Kate.

On Training Strike!!
Two weeks and counting!
Since the Lake St Louis Triathlon [Aug. 22], I haven't put one foot into a pool, one foot into a running shoe, nor put one butt on a bike seat. After that race, I strained my calf and wanted to take some time off and do a little bodily healing. Just taking some time off and not worrying about my next workout REALLY feels good. Since I went on my training strike my calf, knees and achilles have stopped hurting. Amazing how that works. [Maybe those doctors were right?]
My original plan was to do some massage therapy and a lot of stretching on the ol' legs. But, I have really done none of that. Which is a real switch from my usual Type A personality non-stop two-a-day mega intense brick workouts, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, go go go Go GO GO!!!
The plan from here out is to get back into it, BUT only when I feel like it. Not, because I feel like I have to train. So, I've made a deal with myself to take as much time off as I want. And, WITHOUT FEELING GUILTY FOR IT!
So far, so good! Cheers!

3x5
I'm writing you
to catch you up on places I've been
And you have this letter
probably got excited, but there's nothing else inside it
didn't have a camera by my side this time
hoping I would see the world with both my eyes
maybe I will tell you all about it when I'm
in the mood to lose my way with words
Today skies are painted colors of a cowboy's cliche'
And strange how clouds that look like mountains in the sky
are next to mountains anyway
Didn't have a camera by my side this time
Hoping I would see the world through both my eyes
Maybe I will tell you all about it when I'm
in the mood to lose my way
but let me say
You should have seen that sunrise with your own eyes
it brought me back to life
You'll be with me next time I go outside
just no more 3x5's Guess you had to be there
Guess you had to be with me Today I finally overcame
tryin' to fit the world inside a picture framme
Maybe I will tell you all about it when I'm in the mood to
lose my way but let me say
You should have seen that sunrise with your own eyes
it brought me back to life
You'll be with me next time I go outside
no more 3x5's

Lake St Louis Triathlon
OK, so I lied! I haven't posted my Mexico pictures yet. Matter of fact, I'm not even sure where they are!!
Anyway, Lake St Louis Triathlon was on Saturday. Good race, as usual. This race always has a light and fun atmosphere. I guess its because there are so many first timers, that everyone there is out to have a good time and not get bogged down with winning. One of my favorite things about this race is the beginning of the bike and all of the run goes through neighborhoods. My favorite is the family just on the other side of the dam during the run, who always have the music cranked, their yard is filled with people and they all cheer for you as if they know you. Speaking of...A big THANKS to those cheering at the finish line. Catina and the boys couldn't make the trip, so it was nice to have someone calling out your name. Very cool!
I haven't compared my splits from this year to last, but I was about 4 minutes slower this year than last. And, I'm blaming that on my damn calf. I tweaked it the week before the Big Shark race last month and it has been bothering me since. I hoped that I could mend it over the vacation, but us Type A's can't seem to ever take a day off. I went into Saturday, knowing that it was going to be more painful than usual. Luckily, I'm not signed up for any more races this season, so I think that it is time to make myself "rest" a little. I always tell myself to take at least two weeks off, which usually turns into two days. We'll see!
